HAYWARD,
CALIFORNIA (March 1, 2011)
– Eighteen year-old Jessica Brunelli has announced her
return to the Drive for Diversity program in 2011,
driving NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars throughout North
Carolina for Max Siegel and Revolution Racing.
Her 2011 schedule will see her compete in as many as 25
features including races at Hickory, Tri-County, and
Greenville Pickens Speedways. The schedule will allow
Brunelli the opportunity to compete for the NASCAR
Whelen All-American Series national title.
In
2010, she won the Rookie of the Year award at both
Tri-County Speedway and historic Hickory Motor Speedway
to give herself four Rookie of the Year titles in four
seasons.
Brunelli is a member of the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle
driver development program based in
Sacramento,
California
that grooms an international roster of talented drivers
who have the potential to achieve a career in NASCAR.
Brunelli competed in USAC Ford Focus Midgets for Sutton
in 2008, finishing sixth in the standings. Brunelli has
moved rapidly through the racing ladder, competing in
IKF Karts, Skip Barber cars, Midgets, NASCAR Modifieds,
and now NASCAR Late Models.
The success that Brunelli achieved throughout 2010 was
noticed as she was selected to appear on “NASCAR: Next
Generation”, a NASCAR-produced show on VERSUS that
chronicled the rising careers of several high-profile
short track racers.
Brunelli was also featured in the BET hit reality show
“Changing Lanes” which gave viewers a behind-the-scenes
look at the entire Drive for Diversity selection process
from late 2009 into early 2010. Driver try-outs and
training, similar to what Brunelli had already
participated in for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle over
the years, were among the highlights.
In
addition to Brunelli’s expansive media appearances, she
also is a leader in the minority motorsports world. She
has is a Project Podium recipient and a participant in
the for the Lyn St. James “Women in the Winner’s Circle”
program.
“Jessica has already proven so much at each step in her
career,” driver coach Ron Sutton said. “This is one of
her first opportunities to race in the same series for
consecutive seasons, and I expect to see her achieve
many great finishes and wins this year in the
Carolinas!”
